We have announced the completion of the agreement for ICON to acquire PRA and I’m delighted to welcome all of our employees to the new ICON!

This is truly an exciting day for our new, combined company. We have created the world’s most advanced healthcare intelligence and clinical CRO, that is poised to change the way clinical research works, because we know that trials can be done smarter, better and faster. We now have the scale, therapeutic expertise, differentiated technology and data assets to lead the industry into a new paradigm for bringing clinical research to more patients. We have well-established partnerships with the world’s top biopharma and biotech companies and, through a continued focus on delivery and innovation, we will deepen these partnerships and create relationships with new customers.

Above all, we have a world of opportunities for you to develop exciting and diverse careers in the new ICON. As a people-focused organisation, you are our greatest strength and through our continued focus on training, learning and development, you will have the opportunity to play your part in helping ICON to lead change within our industry and continue to develop your career in many ways. I look forward to embarking on that journey with you!

We recognise that the success of the new ICON depends on our ability to quickly become one company and provide you with the tools and information to enable you to succeed. To support questions you may have today, we have created the attached Day One Guide, which outlines what’s changing and what’s not, and an Integration Microsite, which contains various materials and links to resources. We will continue to keep you regularly updated on integration progress in the weeks and months ahead.

To mark today’s exciting event, and in recognition of our mission to improve and save lives, I’m delighted to announce that on behalf of all of our employees worldwide, we will be making a financial donation to support the delivery of 38,000 vaccines – one for every employee in the new ICON – as part of UNICEF’s COVID-19 vaccine procurement and distribution programme. UNICEF is aiming to deliver 2 billion COVID-19 vaccines to the world’s most at-risk populations by the end of 2021, so that families and healthcare workers in these communities can continue to care for children. We are proud of the leading role ICON played in the development of the first COVID-19 vaccine and we can now be proud to support the distribution of life-saving vaccines to those in most need.

Today is the beginning of something new and an exciting journey lies ahead for all of us. Let’s take the opportunity to lead our industry to a place where our customers and patients really benefit from more innovative and efficient ways of developing drugs and devices. You should all be very proud of the part you have played in getting us to this point in our company’s journey.
